Not that we'll probably hear, but I'd like to know whether she recovers from this, and where she is in 15 years. If he doesn't plead guilty and goes to trial I guess we'll know.

It certainly took a lot longer than I thought it would to find them. Thankful she's alive.

Found in a commune, and he changed the license plates.

Police found Thomas with her former teacher, 50-year-old Tad Cummins, at the commune in Cecilville, CA, early Thursday morning.
Authorities reportedly found Cummins' Nissan Rogue first. The vehicle's original license plate had been removed, but officials were able to confirm the vehicle through its VIN.

Just a guess, I think the commune they were at might be the Black Bear Ranch... Over the years I've heard a few tales about the place. Won't be putting the tales here because they were mostly rumors from a family member of my ex-husband.

After five weeks on the run, a Tennessee teacher who kidnapped and fled with his 15-year-old student has been arrested in California, authorities said Thursday.

The student, Elizabeth Thomas, was found safe, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation tweeted Thursday. But the girl has not been able to speak with her family yet because she is in “too remote” of a location to do so, Thomas family attorney Jason Whatley said.

“There aren’t words in the English language to describe the level of relief and elation experienced by the Thomas family,” Whatley said. “Now begins another hard chapter, but for now, we celebrate.”

Tad Cummins, 50, fled with Elizabeth from their small town of Culleoka, Tennessee, on March 13. They disappeared a few weeks after a student reported seeing Cummins and Elizabeth kissing in a classroom.

Authorities released surveillance video from March 15 that showed the pair at a Walmart in Oklahoma City. But for weeks, the trail went cold.

The break came when a vehicle belonging to Cummins was found in Siskiyou County, California, the county’s sheriff’s office said. It was identified using its vehicle identification number.

Siskiyou County is more than 2,000 miles from Culleoka, Tennessee.

Cummins faces charges of sexual contact with a minor and aggravated kidnapping, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said last month. ..."

Apparently, your guess was perfect, Ana- that was the commune indeed!

I was surprised to find the place on a map of the area up there. I was just snooping around google maps to see what the small towns around the area looked like. It'd been years since my ex-brother-in-law told us stories about the place..

I'm glad they found the girl and hope she can be reunited happily with her family. Hopefully she'll be ok with counseling and a lot of love from the family and friends.

As for him, I hope he'll be very "happy" behind bars for a long time to come.

Look at this from TN law. ( copied from CNN page)

Cummins faces charges of sexual contact with a minor and aggravated kidnapping, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said last month.
But Tennessee law allows children older than 12 to decide whether to leave their families, unless their removal or confinement "is accomplished by force, threat or fraud."

Tad Cummins arrested, Elizabeth Thomas rescued at California commune

At some point while in northern California, the pair stayed at the Black Bear Ranch commune for at least two days but were asked to leave, according to our ABC-affiliate KDRV-TV. It’s not clear if that’s the commune where they were found Thursday. Click here to read about Black Bear.

Not happy to hear this. If this predator pervert gets a slap on the wrist for this I'm gonna be pissed. These predators need to be taught a tough lesson.

Cummins is being held by the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department without bond. He is awaiting extradition to Tennessee, where he will be charged with sexual contact with a minor and aggravated kidnapping.

Acting U.S. Attorney Jack Smith said his office had also filed a federal charge of transportation of a minor across state lines for criminal sexual intercourse. The charge carries a minimum 10 year sentence.

What kind of ass backwards law is that? A child older than 12 can just leave their family?
No offense to those who live there but no wonder that TN gets a bad wrap.

Cummins is a scum bag perv hands down. But Elizabeth really had little chance to begin with. A child from a family of ten children who was home schooled and then her mother was charged with abuse?
My guess is that the mother home schooled them so that her abuse was less likely to be documented.

I do have to wonder what was going on with the father prior to all of this.
He was out working while his wife of the 10 children abused the children?
It reads like by the time Elizabeth was taken that he already had sole custody.
I do question if he sperated from the wife only because she was charged and all of the children would have been removed from his custody as well had he not.

None of that really matters except that it made Elizabeth an easier victim of a 50 YO perv.
And TC's poor wife must either be totally shocked or had know he was a freak all along.

I volunteer to take him deer hunting. He won't even need a rifle. I'll let him
use mine.

Well, maybe I'll just use mine when we get into the woods. Or the .45 I normally carry for coyotes.
