Default Madison Co AL Jane Doe Identified as Cynthia Lynn Davis, Huntsville. AL

I always wondered..

"The Madison County Sheriff's office has identified the remains of a young girl found in 1997. They will release these findings in a news conference Wednesday morning."

I thought there was a thread for her but I couldn't find it.

I'll update when I know more.

In going to the link, I found that the story is now they know her name. There's a picture, too, of this lovely young lady, gone too soon.

I always find it so very sad that a person dies and is unidentified....that no one even cared enough about them when they were alive to bother reporting them missing like in this case.

Step-dad is the one who called in to LE asking about the body. NOT THE MOTHER.
Sounds like mom couldn't be bothered.

Quote:
A hunter found Davis' remains on October 16, 1997, wrapped in plastic. Her remains were in some woods near Indian Creek Road.

Sheriff Blake Dorning said Davis was estranged from her family and moved to north Alabama sometime in the 1990s. She was originally from California, and her mother lives there now.

Dorning said the break in the case came in 2009, when Davis' stepfather called investigators to say he hadn't heard from Cynthia in several years. The stepfather was divorced from Cynthia's mother, and he said he had heard the story about the bones being found and thought it might be her, by chance. The stepfather was shot in the face in the mid 90s, and could no longer see, so he couldn't view the computer image of what she might look like.

Glad they gave her her name back and ID'd her. Maybe now she can be given a respectful funeral and burial. Thank goodness her step dad called and inquired.

I'm so confused. The press conference raised more questions than answers. I always figured she was from out of state.

On this website http://www.waff.com/story/17100904/v...-old-cold-case some woman claiming to be an aunt said she lived in Huntsville but ran away. So did she live with family in Huntsville?

How could she go unidentified for so long if her loved ones were right here???

I know. If someone in my immediate family were to just disappear, I'd be all over LE, and I wouldn't stop till they found them. I can't imagine living the rest of my life not knowing!
